At Aanchal we help hundreds of women every year. We help women leave abusive situations, we refer them to appropriate shelters, we access financial support on their behalf, we provide them with an advocacy service and we provide counselling, to name but a few. (If you want to know more you'll find further details on this website.) But to do all this, we need funding.
We're looking for investors who are as serious as we are about breaking the chain of domestic abuse. Currently about 50% of our funding comes from the statutory sector and 50% from private corporate funding. We desperately need more.
- In the short term, we need money to help build up our reserves and put us on a more secure footing for the future. We need money to cover our current services, such as the helpline at a cost of £60,000 per annum.
- £55,000 per annum could pay the salary of another full-time member of staff and additional sessional staff to work on the helpline. This would allow us to provide support to Asian women living outside London.
- £50,000 per annum could pay for another full-time member of staff and extra sessional staff to expand our professional counselling service.
- £80,000 per annum would pay for the continuing employment of our Domestic Violence Specialist Team
- £120,000 will enable us to launch an Empowerment Programme - a programme aimed at getting women into employment through mentoring and educational schemes.
- £26,000 will buy us a much needed minibus for youth services
- £25,000 will maintain rent and telephone costs (and other central costs)
- £50,000 will sustain core costs
